Ohhhhh!!!It's been way too loooong since I last posted something. Shame on me but this fella has been mighty busy. I took the huge step of faith and went full time self employed. I pretty much knew what I was getting myself into. Had no idea it would take so long to get established. Along with working home comes some issues of getting distracted by non work related things. Let me tell you that focus is necessary and sometimes I lose my 20/20. I have also been monitoring my facebook and twitter accounts and oh boy its been a pool of comedy and connections. Staying current makes content more worthy and search friendly.. Time to put on my networking hat and check my mailbox in my boxer shorts. lol

Hey whats up blog sphere. I had been doing a few things over the past few months and would like to apologize for not having any post up. I am back in the saddle, and now promise to give at least a weekly post. I have been working on my portfolio site as well as an e-commerce site that should be up later this year. What do you want? Seriously! Think deep on that question. I have asked myself over and over again that questions a billion times. I see that people chase dreams their entire life, some catch them, others don't. Some people don't have dreams to chase because they don't want to be disappointed if they never reach them. As for myself, I have to keep on pushing and reaching. A fire has been kindled in me to show the world who I belong to and how POWERFUL HE IS. The world is shallow and easily deceived. In the midst of this world shrinking so is my tolerance for ignorance. Yeah read on this blog is my personal venting on my small life. At the foundation of my cause is to reach and encourage those that fit into the same box that I am in. I'm trying to see the end of the road but enjoying the trip along the way. Is it wise to start a business and leave a "stable job" in these unsure times? Soon enough I will find out just how stable things are. If this whole system of business is based on a shaky foundation then we all are in for a rude awakening. What will be the upside to this downturn? Will people move back to a simpler form of life? Are we as business professionals doomed? What if the world changes and realizes that all this stuff that we have been feeding them is all worthless. What will be the main thing that will stay consistent in this existence? These things I ponder over and try to understand. We seek for a greater purpose of survival and need. We all have questions we need answered and who is to know anything if we are all foolish. Business is an age old practice of supply and demand. Here we go on a journey of business 3.0: back to basics.

In just a two sentences the whole essence of today's marketing is captured. The future generation is an over stimulated over marketed and over targeted people. Look at what new obstacles are present that were not present to other generations. Believe it or not its getting worse. How do you reach them and keep them? Some would say research is the key, to some extent I agree. The world is growing and shrinking at the same time. What is a small business owner to do if they can't keep up with changing times. There are two options, stick it out or throw in the towel. Most of you would be discouraged and beat up by this current economical condition. I will not deceive you and tell you that there is a brighter day ahead. I will tell you that only the strong will survive. Now is the time to put more focus in marketing and stop being so repetitive with what has been done. Some people would truly milk a cow until it gives off butter. STOP!!!! WAKE UP!!! Open up those marketing budgets and take the risk. You have to snatch, grab, push, pull and run for survival. Don't take it personal it's just business.

Marketing Skills Pt.1: Origins

A single touch of personality can make all the difference. Oh how bored can we become with the same ole routine marketing that gets mediocre results. Nowadays its just not going to cut it as consumers focus more on saving and trying to hold on to every penny they have. I know because I was a crazed consumer looking and searching for my next purchasing high. My brother and I use to go all over looking for the newest whatever gizmo to see just what all the hype was about then we would give our neighborhood review. We were both young and had no idea that we were doing things that most people get paid some serious cash to do. Our biggest problem was organizing and structuring things to present on a corporate business level. If we could have packaged our mojo long ago we would be rich. In fact I remember people asking us over and over again "How come you guys are not rich?" obviously they seen something in us that was not typical. From this experience I realized that there is a small percent of the people who do not feel they can be controlled by general thought and confines of standard marketing research. Overall marketing has been bumped up due to technology and instant response. Companies know that once something isn't getting the buzz they expected they will drop it like a bad habit and fast. No more time to waste money on ideas and campaigns that do not work...

Business 101: Hasty Blunders

A word of advice to those who are starting small businesses in general. Make sure you price right and think of every little detail that cost or else you will go broke. That is business pricing ethics 101. Do not let a customer rush you into a hasty pricing situation. When you price with your heart and not with logic and good business sense you are basically pricing out of charity. If someone calls you and says they need something immediately that is fine but first lets get them familiar with how your business is structured so that will know policy and procedure. This is more important than just throwing a price out there. The customer has to feel a sense of confidence to spend money with you. I know from being a huge consumer that I personally will hesitate to spend money with a company if their organizational skills are not up to par. I have also often fell into the trap of spending money with business that appear to be well organized machines but on the back end its just a cover for lack of skill and knowledge and experience. You walk away saying at least they messed me over with a smile. I am not just speaking of printing and graphic design business but general business. This in my experience, has been pretty consistent. I will sum everything up with the old adage "Think before you speak" and you will do well.

Possibilities of Twitter...

I have been reading on various websites about how Twitter is growing rapidly. I think its a pretty neat service. It keeps people in your network up to date with pretty much everything going on. You can link people to pages that contain more information regarding the subject that you are being tweeted. I see how I will use this to drive traffic to my website once its up and running. Its huge for social networking. It reminds me of a personal RSS on the go. Since I have a cool iphone app called "twitterfon" it allows me to keep current on the people I follow. I try to stay plugged into the latest tech. I see a huge are for people who are less tech savvy to gain information in laymen terms. I track a few different companies on twitter to keep me posted on hip new gadgets. I recommend checking me on twitter to link into some really good up to date news. Since I work in the print industry I am doing research to see how could twitter make my life easier naturally. I guess if I can help someone else find what they are looking for then I have done a good days work.

Directions

Just came from having a great weekend full of relaxation and networking. I have spoken to a few people from my past that were goal oriented. A few new opportunities on the horizon and a few things that I have to move past. Time will tell how the situations progress. A few big things happening in the next days or so. Have been working on logo drafts and CD & DVD print designs. I started to think that I need a separate number for design consultation and art direction. If anyone out there need some art direction to their projects I will be glad to assist you on projects big or small. I have a background of select clients that I have been designing for the past few 13 years. Being a designer is crucial when it come to selecting your own pieces to display. It is driving me insane.. Once I get this dead weight off my backside I should be in the display section of my web campaign. I joined a few social networks the past few weeks but have not had time to load them up with stuff. Once I get squared off I will fill them up with all the same content minus my blogs which will have the latest info. I will have them linked into my twitter feeds. It was pretty cool how they have an online app that does that. I watched the guy over at CNET do that and it was really helpful. I think that wraps up the day for now...

Overcoming Fear

The fear of success will have to be faced if you plan to move forward in your career goals. I was afraid to step out on my own until I realized I am doing more harm than good to all those I come in contact with. People are looking and searching for strong leadership. I don't believe I have chosen myself but I have seen those who are out there and how they lead selfishly and blindly. I have always heard that the best leaders have to be able to take the best instruction. Sabotage is another demon that we must all face. I found myself doubting and not looking at the big picture so I start to believe that I can't do it just because I think I can't. The next enemy is impatience. All goals that are worth something are usually slow and steady climbs. I will keep pushing on with the gifts that I have been given. Adding ideas and necessary skills daily to enhance my execution. Growth, growth, growth is the name of the game.. With growth you will overcome the cage of fear that contains us all in some way.

Keeping a steady work pace with new clients is very important. Staying on track with incoming jobs and deadlines is probably ranking high on my priority list along with a good quality product. When I had first gone into business back in New York things were a bit different than they are now. I had a policy which was first come first serve. This does not work in the modern day business world. Some of the top clients are the ones that need the work right away. They usually have the resources and funds to pay any additional rush fees. I know now that even if they were not full loyal customers my goal of making a profit and business growth would have been met. Whoa, oh how I have made some pretty immature mistakes. Looking back on those situations are quite fun when you truly begin to understand the functioning of business. Thanks older bro for putting me under your wing and letting me fly high... If not on paper at least in my mind...

Day by day the world is growing. Is it foolish for a man to plan a day that he has yet seen and is not promised? I think not, it would be foolish to be given the opportunity to see another day and not do all you can do with the blessing of being given another day. So we have to look at our lives in a reflective manner taking in all the things we have been allowed to plan and execute. The day is not ours it belongs to the one that has given it to us. Nothing is promised. I tend to put myself under severe scrutiny when I never get things completed according to my schedule. This would add tons of unnecessary stress to me. Focusing on what you have done and not what you haven't is the key to appreciating the time you are given. Be content with the blessing of a new day no matter the situations life throws at you. Be thankful for the night to sleep and forget the problems of today. I feel like I am going through a mental, & spiritual preparation for things greater than I understand. Motivation 101... Once your thoughts are conceived then half of the work is done. Now it is time to put the plan into action. I was once reading online that with the way our lives are now in this modern time we need 28 hours in a day. We have to squeeze as much activity into one day as humanly possible. I tell you this.. I am not blogging for fun and games. Oh yeah, this is a forerunner to my web marketing ideas. The first thing to do after falling off a cliff is to see how far you have fallen. Get your thoughts together and start to climb back to the top. This is the same experience that I was impacted by with my original New York based business. I was a mere kid trying to do what I love with little know how about the functioning of business. Now I know and knowing is half the battle. I had to slip my old G.I. Joe in there. I might throw up a preview of my time line (its for entertainments purposes).

Just a little bit excited to have 2 blogs up and running. Not much traffic but its cool for now since my main website is not up. I wanna see how effective Gorilla Marketing really is... The whole in your face thing just amazes me. I mean television and radio does it all the time. Just think with those forms of media we initiate the confrontation of being bombarded with advertisements and wack television programming. I cant think of any show in television now worth watching. If the tube goes on I find myself watching something educational. The Food Network, Discovery Channel, Science Channel, you get the idea. Those reality shows are just a waste of time. If you put a camera in my house I guarantee you something 10X more exciting and thought provoking. Thats the thing my reality TV would be too real. People don't want to think nowadays, its too much work. Its so much easier to tell people what to think... We need to wake up and start moving ahead... My thoughts.. Testing 1...2...3...

Tech Update!

Just downloaded a new app for my iphone "iBlogger". Its pretty descent for a buck. I was able to send a blog from my phone which is pretty conveinant. Ideas are coming all the time. I am currently working on a few projects that I will post later this week. Small businesses with low overhead will strive with the times we have now. Its time for the talent to step up and get serious about business. I will be reviewing some technology today to see what is new with the design field. Plenty of companies have some really cool apps but just don't have any marketing to promote them. I also started a wordpress blog that I will try to figure out how to publish on Blogger and Wordpress with one click. I am also looking into generating more traffic to my website once its up. SEO is a time thing... The buzz must go out now.. The plan must be put into place. Traffice, traffic... the web is crawling with traffic. Thats all for now. See you all later...

Vision... A Puzzle to me

I remember when I took interest into the arts and design. I can give partial credit to my older sister for introducing me to culture. It was put in my mind as a child to be an individual, a leader. Be original, don't do what others are doing. I grew up and developed more into a deep thinker with keen problem solving skills. I had no clue that this was going to be a strong foundation for me to go into my given career. I have been blessed with a talent that has been getting drained by mundane repitition. I have been feeling creatively castrated. This blogging has been a relief for me. I can see the bigger picture of the direction I must take. My eyes are open to expanding and taking a leap of faith in my field of choice. One piece of the puzzle am I. I see the other pieces but I don't think I fit in. I would like to be the die that cuts the pieces out. The person who chooses the picture to piece together. Time will tell... It's not all about me. Well at least this blog is...

Humility..

Deciding to go into business for yourself is quite a risk. I have never been rejected and turned down since I was in grade school. Just like then I knew that if I wanted something I had to be persistent. Its not easy being an owner/sales person wrapped up into one, along with other things. Time is my most valuable asset. I have made a few shifts recently to prioritize things to get my clients a faster turn-around with their jobs. I have been struggling with working a full-time job and trying to get my life career in order. My creative juices are just oozing out of my head. I can't keep up on the production line. I find myself jotting down notes everywhere I go and on just about everything. I know one day all this hard work will pay off and not just in a monetary sense. As for now I am just another starving artist but I keep on pushing...Look at it this way, today is a new day and I will keep pushing and striving to reach my goals. Stay focused and positive, keep sincerity and integrity as my friends. Like the old school tutorial tapes. If there's a will theres an A.

There have been a few ideas that I have been pondering upon. I had some ideas for a few e-commerce sites. I am pretty sure that if you think it... most likely someone already has it out there in this world wide web. The thing about it is, I want to put my personal spin on it. Not saying that my personal spin will make much of a difference but I know it will get my creative juices flowing in the right direction.
